The 12 Days of Christmas - Tips for the Holidays: Part 9
The holidays are a great time for this since...catching up on sleep!
Sleep is one of those essential things that we just never get enough nowadays. We're always so busy and running around, trying to finish up those last minute work projects, taking care of the kids and staying up late just for the sake of saying we're doing so much more.
Sleep is always one of the first things that should be addressed when starting a training program, because it's an essential part of your recovery.
Way too many people are focused around the wrong things when it comes to training, they address training programs, proper nutrition and a whole host of supplements, but they often forget that sleep plays a much bigger role than it is credited.
Without adequate sleep you can't perform at your best. And without sleep you cannot recover from your intense workouts. Trust me, I've tried to do without sleep for many years and it just doesn't work.
Do yourself a favor this holiday season and get yourself up on a sleep schedule. Get a watch or use your phone to set yourself up an alarm that reminds you it's time for bed.
Set your bedroom up to be as dark as possible with no visible light sources and keep it cool. Cooler bedrooms offer a better night sleep. And if necessary use a sleep app with some white noise to help lull you into a blissful slumber.
Focus on better sleep for the remainder of the holiday season and see how you feel and perform. My guess is that you're going to feel better, be leaner and be a rock star everyday.
Now go get those zzzz's and get ready for another awesome day! You've earned it.
